McCulloch sees red over Old Firm dismissal

Lee McCulloch has hit out at his sending off in the final Old Firm derby of the season. Rangers midfielder McCulloch saw red in Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat at Celtic, ruling him out of Sunday's final Clydesdale Bank Premier League game of the campaign against Motherwell. The 31-year-old was dismissed after picking up a second yellow card for a tackle on Aiden McGeady, though television replays suggested he may have made no contact with the winger. "I am gutted my season ended on Tuesday night," McCulloch said in the Scottish Sun. "I never made any contact with their player - TV pictures have proved that - and having been involved all season, I wanted to play my part against Motherwell on the final day. "We're at home and the SPL trophy is being presented but I won't be involved. "All my family are coming to the game and it's hard to take that I won't be out there on the pitch. Had I committed a second foul then fair enough. "I didn't touch him and the sending off was harsh. It is extremely difficult to take." McCulloch's suspension, which also sees him banned for the opening two games of next season, will not prevent him joining in the title party this weekend. "It has been a great campaign, we've won the league against all the odds," said the midfielder, who has been linked with a summer move to Hannover 96. "We're going to enjoy Sunday with the fans, that's for sure."
