McCarthy targets four or five new faces

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is looking to bring in "four or five players" this summer after securing Premier League football for another season. With £750,000 in prize money available for each place in the top flight, McCarthy has challenged his players to finish as high as possible to boost his transfer war chest.McCarthy brought in nine players after Wolves gained promotion from the Championship, but he will be more selective with his purchases this summer."I will be looking to bring in four or five players this summer to improve," he said. "We had too many (new signings) last summer really."The good thing is, with making sure we are safe with two games left, is that we can start looking now at the players we want to sign."That is a help in terms of the planning and preparing behind the scenes."Wolves visit relegated Portsmouth on Saturday and then end the campaign with a home clash with Sunderland.McCarthy added: "There are two games left, we want to finish 14th and one or two places either way could be the difference between getting a player in and not getting a player in."The more money you get in will help with strengthening the squad."
