Blues deserve Prem title, says Lampard

Frank Lampard believes champions-elect Chelsea fully deserve the title for the way they have performed at a crucial stage of the season. Carlo Ancelotti's side responded to a shock 4-2 home defeat by Manchester City at the end of February by putting together a nine-match run in which they won seven, drew one and lost one.During that spell they crucially beat title rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford, defeated Liverpool at Anfield and put seven past both Aston Villa and Stoke. All that has added up to a one-point advantage over Sir Alex Ferguson's side heading into the final games of the season.A first Premier League title in four years is Chelsea's to lose at they host Wigan while United are at home to Stoke. But Lampard believes what has gone before in the last couple of months proves their championship credentials."We have had a couple of moments in the season when we have not been at our best and the momentum went back to United," said the England midfielder."But in the last 10 games or so our performances have been fantastic, so has the attitude of the lads."We have got a head of steam up. There is still another game to go but we are in a good position."If you are going to win titles you are going to have these moments."Whether it is a crunch moment like yesterday, when we played Liverpool with United playing Sunderland after us, or whether it be a game at home which you should win comfortably."You have to do the job right."Lampard scored the second goal which killed off Rafael Benitez's side at Anfield yesterday with a trademark run into the penalty area and close-range finish from Nicolas Anelka's cross.Manager Ancelotti paid tribute to the 31-year-old, who has had another great season in front of goal."I am not surprised. Lampard has scored 26 goals in the season and he has these fantastic skills," said the Italian."He moves into the box at the right time and he always does this."Ancelotti has told his players to remain calm as the pressure builds ahead of what should be their title-winning party at Stamford Bridge next weekend. And striker Didier Drogba, who scored the opening goal at Anfield after capitalising on Steven Gerrard's ill-judged back-pass, has echoed those comments ahead of the final day meeting with Wigan."Now we have another game we need to win," said the Ivory Coast international."We have waited for this moment for such a long time but it is not done yet."We just need to concentrate on this next game."
