Liverpool's Emre Can faces anxious wait to discover extent of ankle injury

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can faces an anxious wait to discover the extent of an ankle injury sustained in their thrilling Europa League quarter-final win over Borussia Dortmund. The Germany international was forced off 10 minutes from time despite trying to play on after twisting his right ankle in a frantic goalmouth scramble. He left the ground on crutches and wearing a protective boot and is scheduled to undergo a scan on Friday morning as the whole squad will attend the 27th anniversary Hillsborough Memorial Service - the last to be held at Anfield - in the afternoon. The 22-year-old is not available for Sunday's trip to Bournemouth as he is serving the final game of a two-match suspension but already he is a major doubt for Wednesday's Merseyside derby at home to Everton and could be out for longer if the results of the scan - likely to be available on Saturday morning - show something more serious.
