Manchester United v Liverpool: Ryan Babel fears side have 'almost given title away'

Liverpool have only themselves to blame for allowing their old rivals the chance to open up a seven-point gap, with a game in hand, at the top of the table after disappointing draws at home with Fulham, West Ham, Hull, Stoke, Everton and Manchester City handed United the lead. The Dutch international said: 'A season is very long and you always get a lot of mistakes over the course of one. We've made a lot of mistakes and we've almost given the title away.  Related ArticlesLiverpool ready to sound out United testLiverpool 4 Real Madrid 0: Agg: 5-0The Bung: Was that a smile, Rafa?Liverpool v Real: Man markingLiverpool team pageLiverpool have six games to save their season'But a victory like the one against Real Madrid will give the team a lot of confidence and now we have a new belief that we can beat them on Saturday. 'Maybe things can change and it gives us a buzz to go to Old Trafford with this preparation. Winning any game is possible.' Even beating United would leave Liverpool needing a United side, who have not lost in the league since November, to drop eight points from their remaining 10 games. Babel admits that is out of Liverpool's control, but insists Benitez and his players will concoct a plan to ensure a repeat of their 2-1 win over the world, European and English champions – in which Babel scored the winner - earlier this season. He said: 'We did well in the first game against them at Anfield and it is something we will discuss. Of course, it's something that's in my mind and I think we'll talk more generally about it in the next few days. 'We will find a way to get a good game plan going against them. We do have to go for three points, though. We just want to be in that situation after the game where we can say we did everything we could. 'We don't want to have regrets we didn't give it everything.'
