Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos have handed in their transfer requests at Real
Madrid
According to reports in Spain the Real Madrid stars delivered the news in person to
Real president Florentino Perez which could mean there is massive potential for two
huge transfers this summer.
The transfer rumour mill is about to explode with PSG and Manchester United and
Manchester City eager to strengthen their squads.
Real's1-0 defeat by neighbours Atletico Madrid last weekend leaves the Los
Blanco’s 12 points behind leaders Barcelona and in third place in behind Atletico in
La Liga.
It was shortly after the defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium that the story of the
transfer requests shocked the football world on Spanish TV programme El
Chiringuito.
There have been constant rumours in the media of Ronaldo returning to United. He
made his name at Old Trafford between 2003 and 2009 before his then-world record
£80million pound move to Real5
The Portuguese scored 118 goals in 292 appearances for the Old Trafford side, and
won three Premier League titles, three League Cups, one FA Cup and one
Champions League in a trophy-laden spell with the club. He also won player of year
titles and the Ballon d'Or with the club in 2008.
At Real Madrid Ronaldo has won La Decima, the tenth Champions league/European
Cup for the Spanish giants and broken all sorts of scoring records in the process and
two more Ballon d’Or’s in 2013 and 2014.
Ramos serves as captain for Real Madrid and is a rock in central defence, but also
scores vital goals, notably the equaliser in 2013-14 Champions League final after
which Real went on to hammer neighbours Atletico 4-1. Ramos is a proven star
player and was included in the UEFA Team of the Year 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014 and
2015.
Both these star players would be missed in any side, the fans will surely not want
Perez to let them leave. Ramos almost forced a move to Manchester United last
summer, but this time it seems he means it. Otherwise why would they go so public.
But like they say, no player is bigger than the club and especially a club like Real
Madrid.
