Ten-man Berwick battle for rare win

Berwick moved off the foot of the Scottish League Two table by claiming their first league win since Boxing Day with a 3-2 result at home to play-off contenders Annan Athletic. Berwick had the best chances of the first half before taking a deserved lead after 32 minutes thanks to a good run by Darren Lavery, whose square pass ended in a close-range finish from Blair Henderson. The lead was doubled 10 minutes later when leading scorer Lavery converted from the penalty spot, but things turned just after the restart when Berwick goalkeeper Kevin Walker was sent off for a last-ditch tackle on Josh Todd, leaving Ryan McStay to smash home a free-kick from the edge of the box.Berwick's Allan Walker saw a free-kick hit the crossbar, but he was eventually successful after 88 minutes following a counter-attack, and even though Annan pulled another back through Stuart McColm from a corner, the hosts somehow hung on for the win.
