Palace boss plays down Martin talk

The 22-year-old, who had a spell with Nottingham Forest earlier this season, has been linked with a move to Selhurst Park. But Warnock told the South London Press: "His agent rang me and I said 'no', and then it's in the paper the next day. I'm not interested."Warnock admitted he was interested in Birmingham winger Gary McSheffrey, who joined Forest on loan at the end of last week."We went after McSheffrey but we couldn't afford his wages," he added.Meanwhile Warnock has admitted he is unlikely to be able to land on-loan defender Claude Davis on a permanent basis next season.Davis returned from a hamstring injury to help Palace get back to winning ways with a 2-1 success over Preston on Saturday. But the towering centre-half will head back to Derby at the end of the campaign with money tight at Selhurst Park."We couldn't afford his wages for next season and we couldn't afford the transfer fee," said Warnock."I think we have just got to be realistic and enjoy him while we have got him."
