Sunderland's onloan striker Djibril Cisse wants decision over future

The French striker is currently on a season-long loan at the Stadium of Light but a combination of factors has meant he remains unclear about his chances of a long-term stay on Wearside. The Sunderland hierarchy have decided that they will wait until the relegation-threatened club's fate is settled before taking up the option of signing Cisse from Marseilles. Related ArticlesGordon vows to battle for No 1 shirtSunderland's financial problems threaten Djibril Cisse dealAnton Ferdinand poised to join SunderlandSunderland agree loan deal 'in principle' to sign Djibril Cisse from MarseillesRound-up: Tottenham's losing run continuesFulham's David Healy having Sunderland medical as Steve Davis completes Rangers switchHowever, the tumbling value of sterling compared to the euro is also a cause for concern at Sunderland who initially agreed a club-record £10-million deal last summer for the former Liverpool forward.'It is not nice to worry about where I am going to be in a few months,' Cisse, 27, said.'It is not just affecting me – I have family and children to think about. It is really annoying me, to be honest.'I would like to know ASAP where I'm going to be next season, But it is not me who decides. The board must make a decision.'Cisse added: 'I know things have changed because the British currency is not as strong. 'We also still need to get points to make sure we stay in the Premier League – that's everyone's priority at the moment.'It is no one's fault that the decision is not made, but I still need to know.'Cisse is in no hurry to return to the French club where his current contract ends in June 2011 but remains cool about committing himself to Sunderland.'I don't really want to go back, and I wouldn't have a problem staying here,' Cisse continued. 'I have had good moments with Sunderland, and there are 10 games to go this season, so hopefully there will be more.'I am very lucky to have a good connection with the fans, and I am still learning the culture of the club. We will see what happens.'Cisse did himself no favours last weekend when he was substituted by manager Ricky Sbragia following a disappointing display against Tottenham that saw Robbie Keane deny Sunderland all three points by cancelling our Kieran Richardson's early strike.'We were all frustrated at the end, because we should have held on,' said Cisse.'But apart from conceding a late goal I think we performed well, so it is annoying to lose two points.'
