Senderos sets sights on permanent move

Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos hopes he has done enough in his few appearances at Everton to earn a permanent move to the club this summer. The centre-half moved to Goodison Park from Arsenal in January but has had a frustrating time in Merseyside due to a number of niggling injuries. He has only managed three first-team appearances for the Toffees, although he played 90 minutes for the reserves in their 1-0 win over Liverpool on Tuesday.Senderos is disappointed not to have played more this year, but he harbours hope of staying at the club next term."It has been frustrating but that is often what happens in football," he told the club's official website. "Obviously I would love to play for the first team but the chances are limited so I hope to be as fit as I can when I join in."I think they know what I am about now. I just need a run in the team and then we'll have to see what happens in the summer."Playing for the reserves gives me minutes on the pitch and though it is never the same as playing with the first team I will take anything that comes along."I will also do as well as I can when I get a chance to play."The manager and everyone at the club have been very supportive and that is nice to see."I am very happy here and I just hope we can finish the season well by getting a European place."Senderos is hoping to play a key role for Switzerland in the World Cup this summer but admits he needs to get games under his belt soon."I hope I am now back to full fitness and that I can join up with the national team in good condition," he added. "It is very important for me to play for 90 minutes. I need games and I also need to prepare for the World Cup as well as I can."I also hope to finish the season well with Everton. The team has been on a great run too recently. I hope we can have a strong finish to the season."
