Wilson plays down transfer talk

Portsmouth defender Marc Wilson has played down the transfer speculation surrounding him and expressed his happiness with life at Fratton Park. With Pompey set for a campaign in the Championship next season, a number of clubs are reportedly targeting the 22-year-old at a cut-price figure.Fulham and Sunderland are two names in the frame, but Wilson is focused on his career on the south coast."I just try to concentrate on the football. I don't listen to all that stuff about teams supposedly being interested in me," he told The News."If you're a good professional, then you've got to block it all out. At the end of the day, I'm contracted to Portsmouth Football Club. I've been here for seven years and I love it here."It's a bit difficult to say what will happen in the future with all the stuff that's been going on at the club."They were saying that they would try to sell all of the players not so long ago so there might not be a choice."We had to sell players in January and I suppose that had to happen. The club was the most important thing."But I'm really happy at Portsmouth and I always have been. I will just have to see what happens at the club over the summer and take it from there."Administration-hit Pompey are bottom of the Premier League following a disappointing season which has seen them docked nine points.Wilson admits it has not been plain sailing but does not think it is all doom and gloom."I've been pleased with certain parts this season," he added."I'm obviously not pleased that the team is bottom of the Premier League and we had a nine-point deduction."But I've been pleased with some of my performances and I feel I've improved as a player."I still say I would prefer to play in midfield as the defensive midfielder but I know that needs must and I'm happy to play wherever I'm asked."
