McDonald desperate to make amends

Wayward Burnley midfielder Kevin McDonald is determined to return to the Clarets' first team and help their relegation battle. McDonald hopes to be involved against Liverpool on Sunday after playing 90 minutes for the reserves last night when they drew with Wigan. It was his first taste of action for 17 days after he was fined by the club for leaving the home Premier League game against Manchester City at half-time without permission.Burnley were 5-0 down at that stage - they eventually lost 6-1 - and the young Scot was about to be substituted.Although McDonald remained part of the squad that beat Hull and lost to Sunderland, he did not make the bench in either game.So with manager Brian Laws looking on last night, McDonald was pleased to get a reserve match under his belt."Hopefully I can get back in, but we will see. It is the manager's decision so whatever happens is up to him, " he told the club website."If he puts me in or on the bench, it is his choice. I cannot do anything more myself. I would love to get another chance to play again and help us to stay up."
