Keeper James may snub Baggies move

Portsmouth goalkeeper David James has hinted that he could turn down a move to West Brom in the summer to stay at Fratton Park. Pompey will be playing their football in the Championship next season following a year to forget in the top flight. The south-coast outfit have massive financial problems and are currently in administration, resulting in a nine-point penalty and consequent relegation.West Brom, contrastingly, will finish second in the Championship after an excellent campaign under Roberto Di Matteo.Reports had suggested England shot-stopper James could move to the Hawthorns, but the 39-year-old, who is only expected to play one more season, says he may decide to play in the second tier."I refer to the Championship as real football," he said."When I was at West Ham we were relegated and things were soon very different."We were a Championship side playing Championship sides, and it would not draw as much attention. I went to MK Dons one game and it suddenly became very real."The previous year I was playing a relegation six-pointer at Bolton and it would be a massive double-page spread."Why's that the case? People aren't that interested. So in that sense you are playing a much more realistic and less glamorous game."
