Miller desperate to clinch title

Kenny Miller admits he does not care about the circumstances surrounding Rangers' SPL title triumph as long as they retain their crown. The striker helped seal a 2-0 win against Hearts on Sunday when he converted from the penalty spot after Kyle Lafferty opened the scoring at Ibrox. The victory means Rangers can confirm their status as champions for a second successive season against Hibernian on Sunday. And they could even have the title race wrapped up before kick-off at Easter Road if rivals Celtic fail to beat Dundee United earlier in the day."We'll do it any way," said Miller."We will assume Celtic will go and win and that we will have to win at Easter Road."To be honest, no matter what happens, we will still be going there trying to win the game."If we have already won it, it's going to take the pressure off."But we will be going there to win the game next week and that's what we will be focused on."His thoughts were echoed by boss Walter Smith, who insists his side will be preparing for a win in Edinburgh regardless of events elsewhere. He said: "When you are going to win the championship, you would always look at your own results first and foremost."That's what we will do. We will go to Easter Road hoping to get a win there and that's how we will approach the week."The visit to Hibs is the first of three consecutive away games, with trips to Tannadice and Parkhead also looming - a scenario Smith has expressed dissatisfaction with since the post-split fixtures were announced. And he admits the win over Hearts was crucial ahead of their spell on the road as they now bid to cross the finishing line as soon as possible."It was always going to be an important factor," said Smith."When you've only got two games at home after the split, you have to make sure you make the best of them."At one stage, we didn't look as though we were going to do that. I was pleased we managed to pick up in the second half."We were delighted to win, that was the main object of the exercise."We had a very slow start to the game and the first half was as poor as we have been at home for a little while."But once we lifted the pace of the game a little bit in the second half and got that first goal, then with more care we might have added a few more to that."It was a far better second half than first."Miller knows it was not a vintage performance against the Jambos. But he believes the victory was another example of the character Rangers have demonstrated throughout the campaign."We've dug in all season," he said."I can think of loads of games before the Christmas period where we were digging in and got the results."Now, it's highlighted more because we are going for the last few wins."But I don't think it's any different to a lot of games at the start."We've got to win, that's the main thing, and that's what we are there to do."
