LIVERPOOL FC is considering alternative ways of travelling to Madrid for Thursday's Europa Cup semi-final because of the UK flight restrictions.The club is in regular contact with the Football Association and UEFA as the disruptions caused by the Icelandic volcanic ash continue.The FA is speaking to the European governing body on behalf of both the Reds and Fulham, who play Hamburg in the second semi-final.The Anfield club has contemplated journeying to Spain, for the first leg of their fixture against Athletico Madrid, via other methods of transport.Officials have looked at the feasibility of catching the Eurostar across to France and securing a flight in part of Europe not affected by the airspace ban.Another alternative may be to travel to Scotland and Ireland, where some planes may be leaving, and travelling to Spain.Liverpool have ruled out a marathon coach trip to Madrid due to the demands it would place on the players.A Liverpool FC spokesman said: 'We are monitoring the situation closely.'Asked about the effect the airspace ban might have on this week's European fixtures, including Champions League games, a UEFA spokesman said: 'Obviously we are aware of it.
