Malmo coach Age Hareide to leave role at end of year

Age Hareide will step down as Malmo boss at the end of the year amid reports he is set to take over as Denmark manager. The former Manchester City and Norwich defender is the only coach to have won titles in the three big Nordic nations, but a fifth-placed finish in the 2015 Allsvenska, which concluded in October, has led to his departure after two seasons.Hareide won the Swedish title in his first campaign with Malmo in 2014 and has also claimed league crowns in Norway, with Rosenborg, and in Denmark with Brondby. The Champions League clash against Real Madrid next Tuesday will be the 62-year-old's final game in charge of the Swedish outfit, and he paid tribute to the club."I thank the association for two fantastic fine years. Thanks to the players, my staff, all staff and thanks for all the support from all the fans. It has been a fantastic time," Hareide told the club's official website.Hareide has been linked with the vacant post of Denmark's national team manager following Morten Olsen's retirement last month.Sporting director Daniel Andersson will be sad to see Hareide depart the Swedbank Stadion."I have been told by Age that he will not train us next year," Andersson said. "The process of finding a new head coach is ongoing."
