West Brom step up bid to sign Steven Reid permanently from Blackburn

West Brom are ready to step in with a deal for Blackburn midfielder Steven Reid who is out of contract in the summer. Reid has been on loan at The Hawthorns and impressed despite initial concerns about his fitness. But Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce hopes Morten Gamst Pedersen will sign a new contract within the next few days. Pedersen has been offered deals with Olympiakos and Fenerbahce but Allardyce said: 'I'm hoping that by the middle of next week or the end of next week, we will have a decision one way or the other.'
