Tottenham injury list lengthens with news that Niko Kranjcar out for season

Kranjcar has damaged knee ligaments and the Croatian needs an operation which will keep him out of Tottenham's final five matches of the campaign. Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager, said: "The courage he showed was amazing to play on. He'll need a nasty operation."Kranjcar's absence will be a major blow to Redknapp as he tries to steer Tottenham into the Champions League for the first time. Spurs beat Arsenal 2-1 on Wednesday without the winger and he will also be absent when they entertain Chelsea at White Hart Lane on Saturday, before travelling to fellow title-chasers Manchester United. Redknapp, though, could have Ledley King available to face Didier Drogba and company. The central defender made a surprise return against Arsenal, and though he usually struggles to play two games in a row, Redknapp remains hopeful. Redknapp said: "He's an amazing character. To come out and turn in a performance after weeks without kicking ball, and just perform superbly is amazing. "There's a chance but I wouldn't be sure. We'll see how his knee reacts."
