Stoke to discuss £30,000-a-week deal with Matthew Etherington to ease winger's gambling debts

New deal: EtheringtonStoke will resume talks with winger Matthew Etherington over a new £30,000-a-week deal next week. Etherington plans to use some of the extra cash to help pay-off his gambling debts that reached £800,000 at one point but are now at manageable levels. Chairman Peter Coates said: 'We are keen to keep Matthew and hopefully those talks will come to a good conclusion.'Meanwhile, former Sheffield United chairman Terry Robinson has been taken on by Stoke in a consultancy role.
