Dowie hopeful over Dawson injury

Hull boss Iain Dowie is crossing his fingers Andy Dawson will prove his fitness ahead of Saturday's key Premier League clash at Birmingham. The defender was stretchered off early in the second half as the Tigers went down to a disappointing 4-1 defeat at home to Burnley. The scoreline was 1-1 at the time and Dowie admits it was a blow to lose such a key player with the game delicately poised. However, scans have shown that Dawson suffered nothing more than bruising to his leg and he is now in contention for the trip to St Andrews.Dowie will wait until nearer kick-off before making a decision but believes there is a good chance Dawson will be available."I hope he will make it for the weekend," Dowie told the club's official website."It was a nasty blow to his leg and we lost him at a crucial time in the game."We are hopeful and we'll see how he is over the next day or so."
