Hamburg's Boat to set sail for City

Hamburg defender Jerome Boateng has agreed a deal to move to Manchester City in the summer, according to reports in Germany. The 21-year-old Germany international has long been linked with a move to Eastlands and has reportedly agreed to the switch which will cost City approximately £11million.Boateng, whose brother Kevin-Prince currently plays for Portsmouth, has been in good form for HSV this term, leading them to a Europa League semi-final and a strong position in the Bundesliga.Hamburg had tried to thrash out a new deal with the player to get rid of a minimum-fee release clause in his contract, but City are rumoured to have come in to activate that clause. The Blues are in a good position to finish fourth in the Premier League this season and secure a place in next year's Champions League.Former Hamburg players Vincent Kompany and Nigel de Jong are currently at City and are former team-mates of Boateng.Bayern Munich were also thought to be interested in the youngster, who has dual German-Ghanaian nationality, but City have reportedly swooped in to capture his signature.Twenty per cent of the transfer fee will go to Hertha Berlin, Boateng's former club where he spent five years.
