Pressley restates survival promise

Steven Pressley reiterated his claim Falkirk will stay in the SPL after a significant 2-1 home victory against relegation rivals St Mirren. The Westfield outfit achieved back-to-back wins for the first time in almost two years to move level on points with the Paisley side at the foot of the table.Falkirk remain bottom on goal difference but their manager's positivity appears to be paying off.Former Scotland defender Pressley boldly claimed when he replaced Eddie May in February the club would stay up and their latest victory could prove crucial ahead of the post-split fixtures. He said: "I only look to ourselves. If we keep taking care of our own business, then no doubt about it we'll survive."We have got a momentum just now - that's only one defeat in our last five."We have got a confidence about us and we just have to keep focused. What is important for us now is next Saturday."Pedro Moutinho curled home a 20-yard free-kick in the second minute of first-half stoppage-time to make the crucial breakthrough.St Mirren defender John Potter felt the Portuguese had gone down too cheaply to win the set piece, protesting to referee Dougie McDonald even after the half-time whistle.Ex-Bairn Michael Higdon was then credited for nodding another Moutinho free-kick into his own net after 65 minutes.Andy Dorman's injury-time consolation was exactly that as Falkirk held on for a deserved success.Pressley added: "It's been some time since we've put together back-to-back wins, so I'm delighted."Not only that, I was delighted with the performance. All the things that I talk about, the desire, confidence and ability to play under pressure without fear - we showed all those qualities today."It's a very, very young team that have found themselves rooted to the bottom of the table for most of the season."It's credit to them all, I'm so pleased for them, I really am. It's not about me, it's about that group of players."Of Moutinho, he said: "I love him to bits, he is an infectious character."I thought not only his free-kicks but his performance was brilliant."Last week, he produced that make-the-difference moment against Motherwell and again he did it again."That is why he plays, that's why the supporters love him, because he can - at any given moment - make the difference."
