Anichebe out for the season

Everton manager David Moyes has confirmed that Victor Anichebe has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Scans have revealed that Anichebe sustained knee damage from Kevin Nolan's horrific challenge at Newcastle last month. At the time there were fears that Anichebe had broken his leg after he was forced off, but he has been sidelined ever since and only now have the club been able to confirm the extent of the damage. The 20-year-old will now have surgery and adds to Everton's already lengthy injury list. "Victor will have an operation," said Moyes. "He's damaged his cartilage and is out for the season. "It's a blow for the boy as he'd just got back into the team, and it's another player we have lost." Moyes has already seen playmaker Mikel Arteta and striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu ruled out for the rest of the season.
