City v Burnley Live
Match Preview
Crunch time for two teams battling relegation this season as Hull City
host Burnley at the KC Stadium.
Victory for the Tigers could potentially put them back above West Ham,
while a win for the Clarets could pull them level with their Humberside
rivals on points.
A key factor in the game is likely to be the home advantage that Iain
Dowie's men are enjoying, having claimed 23 of their 27 points this
season on home turf, while Burnley remain on course to pick up the
fewest points ever away from home in a Premier League season (just one
so far).
Last time out at the KC Stadium Hull managed their first-ever home win
by a two-goal margin, defeating Fulham 2-0, whilst Burnley have taken no
points from the last 30 available on the road, hitting just one goal in
this period, and have failed to score in their last four in Hull.
There will be no doubt in the minds of any player as to the importance
of this game, including the Tigers' Bernard Mendy who told local press:
"We need to win Saturday - no draw, no defeat, win. If we win this game
we take three points and we can get out of the bottom three.
"Every game is very important but this game is like a final because of
the club's chances of survival."
City could be boosted by news that George Boateng may be fit to play
after his head injury last weekend and topscorer Stephen Hunt and
defender Liam Cooper (both ankle) could return to action. Kamil Zayatte
(knee), Antony Gardner (ankle) and Amr Zaki (knee) remain unavailable.
Stephen Jordan (knee) could return to the fold for Burnley after missing
out in the 6-1 drubbing by Man City, but midfielder Chris McCann (knee)
remains absent.
