Rafa not throwing in the towel

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez maintains that he has not given up hope of catching defending champions Manchester United at the top of the Premier League. The Reds boss saw his side record a morale-boosting 2-0 victory over Sunderland on Tuesday as David Ngog and Yossi Benayoun scored at Anfield to answer the critics following Saturday's away defeat to Middlesbrough.Liverpool have now moved to within four points of United at the summit, but have played two games more than Sir Alex Ferguson's men - who travel to Newcastle on Wednesday.Benitez confessed that his club - who visit Old Trafford on 14th March, live on Sky Sports - faced an uphill battle to lift a first league title in 19 years after their defeat at the Riverside, but the Spaniard is refusing to give up."They have a good team and good squad, but it is football so you never know," the former Valencia chief told Sky Sports 2 when asked about the chances of United surrendering their lead.Quality"We have to keep going and approach every game thinking about the three points and we will see what happens."We know that it will be difficult, but we still have our chances. We know that each game will be very important."Old Trafford will be crucial. We want to reduce the gap."Benitez also praised Ngog after the French teenager marked his first start at Anfield with his opening Premier League goal."He showed he has quality," added Benitez."He is a young player who has just arrived, and I think he has a great future here."
