Ridgewell eyes new Blues deal

Liam Ridgewell has stressed his desire to remain with Birmingham and sign a new contract. The defender, who has effectively switched from centre-back to left-back this season, was reported to have put in a transfer request. But Blues boss Alex McLeish rubbished this claim and now Ridgewell insists he wants to stay at St Andrew's with talks having already opened regarding a new deal. Ridgewell said: "I don't want to leave Birmingham, of course not. We've had a good season, we're doing well - and I'm enjoying it here. "I've left the new contract down to my agent. It's easier for me to concentrate on my game, the football, and let the contract take care of itself. "Hopefully we can come to some sort of agreement and we can get it signed. I want to sign and presumably the club want to keep me here as well. I'd love it to be done as quickly and as easily as possible."
