Whaley happy to repay the faith

Whaley was shipped out on loan to Championship rivals Barnsley earlier in the season and his future at Deepdale looked in doubt.Having returned to Preston in December, Whaley has gradually re-established himself in Irvine's plans and impressed against the Tractor Boys as North End boosted their play-off hopes with the 3-2 victory.Whaley said: "I needed games and at one stage while I was away I thought that was it."But I spoke to the gaffer and he made it clear he didn't want me to leave and I still had a future at the club."He's given me another chance and it would be a massive reward to repay him by helping the team get into the play-offs."
