Davies denies Forest exit reports

The former Derby boss only took charge at the City Ground at the turn of the year and oversaw an immediate upturn in results. However, a run of five defeats in six games before Saturday's 1-0 success at promotion-chasing Reading had prompted reports that Davies had threatened to step down."Absolute nonsense," said Davies in The Guardian after the Reading win. "There are one or two things we need to change, but I'm here for the long haul."Speaking before the victory at the Madejski Stadium, Davies acknowledged that his style may not be favoured by some supporters. He said: "I'm a public figure - I expect stick, I expect the fans to dislike me because I'm whatever. It's no surprise to me and it won't change my philosophy."It won't change my way of thinking. I'm not being arrogant, and I can be arrogant at times, but not on this occasion. I don't give a damn what they think and what they say because I'm here to do the very best I can."I had flak at Preston when I took over and I certainly had flak at Derby when I first went there. I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep about getting flak at Forest."I'm very patient and very focused on where we're going to go. I'm very realistic about the situation we're in and I'll continue to work very hard in the short-term to achieve the ultimate goal of staying in this division with the squad we've got."And then after that we will start our major surgery with the intention of moving this club into the play-offs, into play-off finals and hopefully promotion."
