Vincent Kompany would welcome Kevin De Bruyne at Manchester City

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany believes the club would be making a great signing if they complete a deal for Kevin de Bruyne. The Wolfsburg playmaker is reportedly close to making a club record move to the Barclays Premier League leaders. The 24-year-old, a Belgium international team-mate of Kompany, has been photographed near Manchester after apparently travelling to the city for a medical. There has been no comment from the club and manager Manuel Pellegrini has consistently refused to answer questions about the club's apparent summer-long pursuit of the former Chelsea player. But Kompany has spoken of his admiration for De Bruyne and would welcome his addition.Speaking after his side's 2-0 win over Watford at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, Kompany told Sky Sports: "We'll see once everything's been confirmed."We'll have another player who's dangerous, who can score goals and who is really efficient."It's going to be a long season with a lot of competitions and the squad can't be big enough."Some reports have suggested the fee for De Bruyne could be as high as £58million, eclipsing the £49m City paid for Raheem Sterling earlier in the summer.Pellegrini was also asked about De Bruyne in his post-match press conference but gave little away.He said: "I will answer the same way I answer all the questions that you or the other journalists ask me about rumours. I can't talk about rumours."It was then suggested by a journalist that the reports could no longer be considered rumours because of the photographs but to little avail. The Chilean said: "I was involved in the game and not thinking about what was happening in Manchester. I was thinking about what happened in 90 minutes against Watford."
