Kranjcar happy in the hole

iko Kranjcar has promised Portsmouth fans will see the best of him in his current floating role. The Croatian playmaker has been asked to play just behind a lone frontman under caretaker boss Paul Hart, with Pompey taking four points from their two games since Tony Adams' dismissal.Kranjcar admits he prefers the freedom afforded to him when asked to operate centrally, with the position giving him greater opportunity to get on the ball and influence the game."I believe that is my best position, but I have rarely played there for Portsmouth," he told The News."When I came over I knew in England it's a position I wasn't going to play that often, but when I get the chance to I really enjoy it."As long as I'm in the team I'm happy, but I think the manager knows what my best position is.Dangerous"When the new management team came in they said 'Niko, we believe this is where you are most dangerous' and it has given me a smile."I like the freedom and the closeness to goal, the chance to make the assists and to get a goal myself."Every player and every person has a different opinion about football so it's not my position to moan. I need to perform, I need to play where the coach puts me and try to do it every single game. But it's where I believe I play the best."I play on the left for Croatia but in the Euros against Germany I played off the striker and that was probably our best game of the tournament."Back home in Croatia for Hajduk Split and Dinamo Zagreb I always played behind the striker. But the most important thing is the team gets the results. Whether I play left, right, middle, it doesn't matter."
