Boro v Liverpool preview

Middlesbrough are desperate to end their horrendous run of form on Saturday, but that looks a daunting task as Liverpool travel to Teesside. Boro are on a desperate run of form in the league after going 14 league games without a win, indeed it has been more than eight hours since they last scored.Gareth Southgate's men booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a midweek win over West Ham United and they will hope that can spur them onto victory over Liverpool.Whilst Boro were beating West Ham, Liverpool were also on cup duty as they travelled to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League and they came away with a wonderful 1-0 win.And now back in England they will look to narrow the gap on leaders Manchester United - who are playing in Sunday's Carling Cup final.Boro can boast a more than reasonable record against Liverpool and Benitez, who is yet to see his team win on the banks of the Tees.Liverpool's last win on Teesside was in 2002, although in the six games since four have ended in a draw.Although Liverpool have found Boro hard to beat - the Teessiders have not beaten them since 2004.Team newsHaving made changes against West Ham, Southgate looks set to named an unchanged side.That means the likes of Matthew Bates, Julio Arca, Tuncay Sanli and Jeremie Aliadiere should retain their places after impressive displays.Marlon King is set to be involved in the squad after missing the club's last three games because of either being cup-tied or ineligible.Chris Riggott, Didier Digard and Andrew Taylor remain sidelined.For Liverpool they will be without Fernando Torres after he picked up an ankle injury in Madrid.Captain Steven Gerrard started the match in midweek on the bench, but he could very well be drafted in as a direct replacement for the Spaniard.Daniel Agger is also unlikely to make the match as he continues to be troubled by his back injury.
