Preston have handed young defender Kenny Strickland the chance to earn a contract at Deepdale. The Manchester United full-back has joined Alan Irvine's side on a work experience deal from the Old Trafford giants.Strickland was handed his first chance to impress during Wednesday's reserve team clash against Tranmere, with Rovers emerging as 1-0 winners. The match also saw three of Preston's long-term absentees make a return to action with Neal Trotman, Wayne Henderson and Liam Chilvers all involved.CloseChilvers was taken off at half-time as a precaution due to a neck injury he sustained earlier in the week, but Henderson and Trotman managed the full 90 minutes.Henderson, who is returning to action after back surgery, told the club's official website: "I'm as close now as I'm ever going to be."I just need to get a few games under my belt quickly and get in the manager's face."The games have been going well and it gives me a chance to get out and show what I can do and show that I'm going in the right direction."
