Dependable Dawson dealt blow as Spurs make Ledley the Wembley King

Tottenhamdefender Michael Dawson is heading for Wembley heartache for the second year in a row. Dawson missed last year's 2-1 Carling Cup final win over Chelsea due to injury and was desperate to start on Sunday after a return to form. But the 25-year-old former Nottingham Forest centre-back looks set to miss out again with Harry Redknapp expected to favour Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate against Manchester United. In the thick of it: Dawson (left) wrestles with Boro's Emmanuel Pogatez during a clash last seasonRedknapp has heaped praise on Dawson since taking charge in October, but admits he would find it difficult to leave King out for the big day. "Dawson has been fantastic for me and done a great job," said Redknapp. "But when Ledley plays we seem to win. He played at Manchester City when we won, he played at West Ham when we won and at Hull when we won. "You just wish you could get Ledley on the pitch more because when he plays he has a presence about him. "Ledley's a very important player to us, so we'll have to see how he is for Sunday." ASH WEDNESDAY: Boastful Bentley ought to skip performing for the media circus and secure a Spurs' starting spot - because the lad actually can playTHE LIST: Sportsmail's 30-21 of football's biggest traitorsTOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE WEB
