Gaffer Gannon set for Seagulls talks

The highly-rated Gannon has emerged as the Seagulls' first-choice replacement for Micky Adams, who was sacked at the weekend.Brighton chairman Dick Knight contacted Stockport counterpart Martin Reid, who has given Gannon permission to talk to County's League One rivals.Reid said: "Jim has been such a success since taking charge of the team in 2006 that interest from other clubs is inevitable."Brighton chairman Dick Knight called me over the weekend and asked for permission to speak to Jim which, to be fair to Jim, has been granted."However, Jim remains crucial to our immediate survival plan and also to County's long-term ambitions. We certainly don't want to lose one of the best young managers in the country and sincerely hope his future remains with us here at Edgeley Park."
