Gardner out to win over fans

Spurs old boy looking to make impact at KC Stadium Anthony Gardner is determined to prove his worth to Hull City by showing former club Tottenham what they are missing.Gardner has made just four appearances for the Tigers since his £2.5million summer move from White Hart Lane due to injury problems. He began his comeback after five months on the sidelines in last week's FA Cup fifth-round tie at Sheffield United and hopes to retain his place as Spurs visit the KC Stadium on Monday. The 27-year-old said: "I'm looking forward to being involved. It's a game I've been looking out for since I came back and it's come up pretty quick."I feel strong now and I felt good in the game I played at Sheffield United and I'm hopeful that everything will be rosy from now on."I'm working hard to get back strong and hopefully we saw last week the start of what I might be able to do."They've hardly seen anything of me here but hopefully they will between now and the end of the season."Gardner's time at Spurs was also ravaged by injury and he is anxious to put all his problems behind him."It can get you down because all I want to do is play football," he said. "That's what I have grown up doing.Frustrated"It's my job and my hobby. I love playing it, showing the qualities that I possess and when that is taken away from you, you can get frustrated."The Tigers go into the match looking for only their second win in 17 Premier League games.Their form has put them in danger of being pulled into a relegation battle but Gardner admits he is surprised Spurs are also struggling to break away from the bottom end of the table."I'm very shocked," he said. "Their squad has an immense amount of quality in it."But they have brought a new manager in in Harry Redknapp and if he is not the man to gel them then I don't know who is."I had good days there. It was a good experience playing for such a big club with such massive support."For most of the years I was there we failed to deliver in the league but I look back fondly."But it was time to move on and it is a new chapter of my life at Hull City."I'd like to start that off with us staying in the Premier League."
