Boost for Spurs as Aaron Lennon steps up recovery bid

Aaron Lennon's recovery from injury will be given a major boost if he can come through planned sprinting sessions on Friday. The 22-year-old Tottenham winger, known for his blistering pace, is set to try sprinting for the first time since injuring his groin on December 28. Recovery bid: Lennon will perform sprints in trainingLennon had originally targeted Spurs' FA Cup matches against his old club, Leeds United, to return to first-team action, but suffered a further setback in February. With the World Cup now just 10 weeks away, Lennon has been out for more than three months and has yet to kick a ball in training. Spurs have just eight more matches - and a potential FA Cup final - for Lennon to return to fitness and impress England boss Fabio Capello, who is already short of options on the right side of midfield following David Beckham's achilles injury. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp said last week: 'Aaron has done very well out with the fitness coaches and hopefully he won't be too long.
