Rodgers: Plans are coming together

The former Chelsea reserve team manager - who replaced Aidy Boothroyd last year - insisted their 2-0 victory over Blackpool is evidence the Hornets are "on the up".Rodgers said: "I am hungry for success at Watford and the structures and systems I have put in place since my arrival are beginning to pay dividends."My defence regularly got some stick earlier in the season but we are now looking sound and keeping clean sheets."We are on the up and are playing with confidence. Today the first half was fairly even but I knew we could step it up a gear and the first goal mattered a great deal."There was to be no repeat of the seven-goal thriller Blackpool edged on November 1 last year, but Watford were out for revenge in their attempt to move away from the relegation zone.Goals from Mike Williamson - the defender's first for the club - and Tamas Priskin sealed the win against the Seasiders.Williamson put the visitors into the lead with a powerful header from 12 yards in the 52nd minute. And Priskin sealed the three points with six minutes remaining when his delicate lob over Matt Gilks found the back of the net.Blackpool manager Tony Parkes believes his side were suffering after a tough week, but admitted mistakes need to be cut out.He said: "We look a little tired after three games in a week but that is not the total excuse. We need to tighten up and stop helping the opposition with our own mistakes."It was all a little disappointing and I think both managers knew the first goal was going to be the big goal today."
