Stop the presses! Liverpool fans are actually happy with a signing

It seems there’s to be another player taking the now well-travelled road between Southampton and Liverpool, with reports saying the clubs have agreed terms for Nathaniel Clyne. Nothing will be confirmed until Clyne is back from holiday, but if all goes to plan the defender will become Liverpool’s sixth signing of the summer – and the first that the fans actually seem pleased with (we’re not counting Roberto Firmino because you can’t really be pleased with someone you don’t know). Clyne for £10.5m rising to £12.5m is great business. A key area sorted, with a really good player at a very reasonable price. Well done LFC. — Joseph Musker (@Musker_LFC) June 25, 2015 You really did just read a Liverpool fan praising the club for business they’ve done in the transfer market. Shall we compare and contrast? @LFC PLEASED? YOU'RE MOTHERFUCKING PLEASED? — jas (@imJkohlii) June 12, 2015 And we don’t imagine there’ll be any sarcastic tweets from bookmakers when the deal officially goes through. Liverpool have announced the signing of Adam Bogdan. The title challenge starts here — Sky Bet (@SkyBet) June 12, 2015 Maybe it has something to do with Jamie Carragher? Saw Nathaniel Clyne at St Mary's last season after a game & told him to sign for Lfc, he took the advice! I'm on the transfer committee now. — Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) June 25, 2015 Or loyalty? Liverpool bought Nathaniel Clyne with their Southampton loyalty card points… — FootballFacts101 (@FootballFact101) June 25, 2015 But Liverpool fans really have two reasons to be happy. The first is that Clyne looks set to take on the number two shirt, and the second is that he’ll be taking it from Glen Johnson – a man Liverpool fans have been trying to get rid of for at least a couple of seasons. the idea of Glen Johnson handing over the number 2 shirt to Clyne though makes me want to dance — – (@ThoseScouseLads) June 25, 2015 They’re so pleased that they’ve plucked up the courage to taunt Manchester United fans once again, after a couple of traumatic seasons. Luke Shaw – £30m Nathaniel Clyne – £12.5m Have a nice day😊 — LFC Discussion (@LFCDiscussion) June 25, 2015 And as much as United fans would like to, they can’t try to knock the quality of the Liverpool target. Nathaniel Clyne: Only Nemanja Matic (129) made more tackles in the Premier League last season than Clyne (115) pic.twitter.com/IzD1MohuI0 — WhoScored.com (@WhoScored) June 25, 2015 That doesn’t mean they’ve not been trying though, or at least some of them. Now that clyne has gone to LFC. I can say! Valencia>>>Clyne tbh. Rafael>>>>>Clyne. LFC, Average club & average targets! — Cristiano Depay (@ManUtd_Universe) June 25, 2015 While others are wondering how Clyne ended up at Liverpool … wasn’t he supposed to be heading to Old Trafford? Liverpool signing Clyne???? where the hell is Woodward…. In Spain vacationing with Moyes??? — Damien Wayne (@Optimus_Primus_) June 25, 2015 None of that matters now though. Clyne’s so good that by buying him, Liverpool are essentially fixing one of their worst signings of last summer. I bet lovern cant wait for clyne to start saving his arse again — Sam (@sam2jam) June 25, 2015 If you’re a Liverpool fan, we recommend going to sleep RIGHT NOW. By the time you’re awake again you’ll almost definitely be closer to signing a few more players, based on current trends… Yesterday I woke up hearing Firming and today Clyne. I'm ready sleep another 8 hours more, if we sign a world class striker 😀 @LFC — vaisakh.k.s (@Vyzack) June 25, 2015 The rumour mill is in full swing, but Liverpool have shown massive intent already this summer and we wouldn’t be surprised for their business to be wrapped up soon. Sky Sports saying we're close to our 7th signing with Clyne being 6th. We're only currently linked to Bacca Rondon Illaramendi and Kovacic. — . (@Coppin_LFC) June 25, 2015 In the midst of it all though, we’ve found the voice of reason. Now Clyne…good week for LFC. But, as a general point, they sign too many players. Need to reach point where aren't 7-8 arrivals per summer — Jonathan Northcroft (@JNorthcroft) June 25, 2015
