Hiddink - No excuses

Guus Hiddink has warned his Chelsea players to take more responsibility and make sure they play to the best of their ability. The Dutchman has taken charge at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season following the sacking of Luiz Felipe Scolari earlier this month.Scolari paid the price for a series of disappointing performances over the last few weeks but Hiddink insists it is now up to the players to improve."The players must deliver up to their standard, up to the club's standard," he said in the Daily Mirror."I don't give them any excuses."Once the manager has prepared the plans for the game then the execution is up to the players."I like to have a recognised hierarchy in my team because they can help boss the younger players and I see that as healthy."If you take the responsibility then you have the right to fail every now and then, because they are human as well."Limited powerHiddink stressed on Friday that he has no plans to stay in the role beyond the summer as he is committed to coaching Russia. He realises he will be expected to turn around Chelsea's fortunes but he is not feeling under too much pressure."At the end of the season I cannot be sacked," he said."Before? Maybe. But not at the end of the season because our working relationship ends then."All I can do is work as I am used to doing. A manager has power, but not limited power because when you bring in your ideas it is not a revolution."The players have to cope with the ideas and execute them."
