Twitter dishes out the lad points to sleeping policeman Jack Grealish

If Jack Grealish was concerned his recent nap on a Tenerife street might earn him Raheem Sterling levels of vitriol on social media, he needn’t have worried. Because it seems getting pissed up with the lads and being photographed apparently passed out on the street earns you only one thing on Twitter – massive lad points. 20,000 lad points on their way in the post to Mr Grealish — Footy Accumulators (@FootyAccums) June 15, 2015 In case you haven’t seen them, here are the photos everyone’s unconcerned about. @JackGrealish1 had a great night, opposite my apartment in the wonderful tenerife 😂 pic.twitter.com/CDecFX80kw — Briony King (@brionyking0913) June 14, 2015 Because while you might expect act-as-a-role-model, think-of-the-children uproar, the reality was sympathy and even respect for the Aston Villa midfielder. Jack Grealish is a 19 year old lad who's on holiday, you can't expect him to stay sober and not enjoy himself. Pathetic. — Charlotte Jane. (@C_Jenkinss95) June 15, 2015 Feel sorry for jack grealish doing what every normal teenager does on holiday yet gets its broadcasted on the internet cos he plays football — jordan (@wignall07) June 14, 2015 Wasn't a massive fan of Jack Grealish but now I love him, what a lad 😂🍻 — Liam Molesworth (@LiamMolesworth) June 14, 2015 Can't believe how dramatic the news stories are about Grealish, he's 19 and drunk, footballers can't do anything these days, christ — Jasmin❤ (@jasmin_avfc) June 15, 2015 In fact there were so many people saying they didn’t know what the fuss was all about that it was difficult to find the actual fuss. Anyone saying "oh jack grealish is on holiday it is ok he's having fun" is stupid. He needs to be more responsible. Simple. — Jasveer Singh Gill (@JazzTheJourno) June 15, 2015 There’s the fuss. Right there. Jazz The Journo is the fuss. This guy made a very good point. Villa should be disciplining Jack Grealish for that disgraceful haircut rather than because he got pissed on holiday — Gareth (@thehandofbeadle) June 15, 2015 Of course, this may or may not have a bearing on his international future. Jack Grealish – another ill-behaved English lout abroad. Unless he declares for Ireland – then he's a legend just having the craic — Emlyn Begley (@EmlynBegley) June 15, 2015 It is not the first time the 19-year-old has had an unfortunate picture of him surface. In April, Villa boss Tim Sherwood spoke to him after a snap – taken in 2014 – emerged of the midfielder apparently inhaling legal high nitrous oxide. Sherwood said at the time: “It doesn’t matter how young he is, he is now in a responsible position as a professional footballer. He’s got to make sure it won’t happen again, he’s assured me it won’t.” (Mike Egerton/EMPICS) Well, to be fair, there’s no suggestion that nitrous oxide was involved in the Tenerife incident, so he’s kind of kept his promise…
