Ally: Gers will have right attitude

After playing in front of 60,000 fans in the goalless Glasgow derby at Celtic Park on Sunday, the Homecoming Scottish Cup holders are at Station Park for their re-arranged fifth-round tie against the Irn-Bru Third Division side. However, Rangers' assistant manager, who has been in charge for the build-up and preparation for the cup tie, insists motivation will not be a problem."This is what playing for Rangers is all about," he said."You come off an Old Firm game in front of 60,000 and then you're travelling up to play Dick Campbell's Forfar."It is from one extreme to the other, and I say that in a respectful way."It's a great leveller as it shows our players everything it entails to play for this club in the space of five days."You would think it would be easy to get motivated for a Rangers v Celtic game but you could maybe question if they can do the same for Forfar away."But I would hope the motivation part of it isn't as difficult as some people might think."As Rangers players, they must do that. It's having the same attitude no matter the opposition which I know is not an easy thing to do."The football graveyard is full of players from Rangers and Celtic who haven't been able to do that."McCoist added: "We are the holders of the trophy, we are still in every domestic competition, and want to win every game."The players are fighting for places as well and footballers do have massive egos."No-one likes not being in the team. So there's everything to play for."It's Forfar's throw of the dice. If you sit yourself down in their camp, then what an opportunity for them."It's live on television and they might never get an opportunity like it again."You would kick your granny for it. I know Dick Campbell would and he probably has!"But what we have to do is earn the right to play Forfar. You have to show them respect and match them in their aggression."We have better players, as we would all agree, but the beauty of the game is that the better football players don't always win."But if we match them for aggression then we should win the game." Rangers 1/8, Draw 8/1, Forfar 16/1
