The Bantams had the better of a scrappy first-half at Valley Parade, with Michael Boulding testing Dean Gerken and Peter Thorne hitting the bar. However, the visitors, who hadn't played for 17 days due to a raft of postponements, improved after the interval and almost snatched all three points late on as Pawel Abbott and substitute Liam Hatch came close."It wasn't a great spectacle but we said before the game that it would be a really hard battle," McCall said. "There was talk of Darlington being rusty (because of the postponements) but they are always going to be hungry and up for it."In the first half, we probably had the edge in terms of chances. Boulding was one-on-one with the keeper, we hit the bar and had a few dangerous set-pieces."But in the second half, as I expected, they got stronger. We naturally tired a little bit but I thought we defended magnificently. Rhys (Evans) only had one save to make, which was a terrific save, and all in all I thought it was a terrific point."
