Magpies duo leave Meadow Lane

Both players have found first-team opportunities limited this season and were set to see their deals expire in the summer.They follow Paul Mayo and Neil MacKenzie out of the exit door at Meadow Lane after their contracts were terminated last week."I want to freshen things up. I let a couple go last week and I just thought it was time to let a couple more go," said Magpies manager Ian McParland. "It's leaving me a bit thin but I want to bring some new blood into the squad. They (Smith and Weir-Daley) have been in and out of the team and it gives them a chance to go and get another club."Smith joined County from Southend in November 2006. The 27-year-old made 67 appearances and scored five goals for the club.Former Nottingham Forest trainee Weir-Daley, 23, swapped the City Ground for Meadow Lane in June 2007. During his time with the Magpies he made 48 appearances and scored three goals.
