Coyle heaps praise on classy Clarets

An early goal from midfielder Chris McCann dealt a further blow to the automatic promotion ambitions of Wolves, who have lost form and are seeing Birmingham and Reading gain ground. The Clarets dominated the match and should have won by more than a single goal.Coyle said: "They are all vital three points in the Championship but having said that we were fully deserving of the three points."From the first whistle we were at them and what we showed today is that we have a lot to offer."We had real goalscoring chances and should have put the game to bed. We came out of the traps very quickly and tried to impose ourselves on the game."The clean sheet was a big thing for the lads today. To stand up and restrict them to few opportunities was a great credit."Burnley were inspired by another outstanding performance from Robbie Blake, who carved out a number of opportunities for team-mates who failed to take full advantage.Burnley took the lead after only five minutes when Wade Elliott's far-post cross was met by McCann who squeezed his header beyond goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey for his sixth goal of the season.Hennessey redeemed himself by saving well from Martin Paterson but was helpless on the half-hour mark as Blake's inviting delivery was headed over by Elliott.Burnley had a golden period at the start of the second half but failed to convert their chances. Hennessey denied McCann a second and Paterson could only fire the rebound into the side-netting.Paterson then rounded Hennessey but saw his shot cleared off the line by Richard Stearman.Paterson was then denied a penalty when he appeared to be hauled over by Stearman.Stearman and substitute Chris Iwelumo went closest to an equaliser but Wolves did not deserve anything out of the game.Wolves manager Mick McCarthy was left to question his own selection."We are always disappointed when we lose," he said."The last two away games I have set the team up 4-4-2 and we were being loved for it when we were winning but we are not being loved as much now."It is a young squad and I have no doubt they have lost confidence. Sometimes it takes a lucky break to get back on top but you have to earn that luck."
