Parkinson admits DeMerit interest

Injuries to Mark Hudson and Jonathan Fortune left the Addicks desperately short at the back, with midfielder Matt Holland forced to play as a makeshift centre-half.Parkinson managed to bring in one new face in the shape of Darren Ward from Wolves, and also asked about American defender De Merit."In the week we lost Hudson and Fortune, we tried to get two centre-backs in," said Parkinson."I felt we'd gone for most of the season with two, using Matty as cover, which obviously isn't his natural position."We only got one in but Jay DeMerit was a player we were looking at, along with several others. We put a call in about DeMerit to see what the situation was, but that was one of several calls we made."
