Duff rues Northern Ireland exile

Despite his good form for the Championship side, Duff was not named in Nigel Worthington's squad for the World Cup qualifier against San Marino.Northern Ireland chalked up a comfortable 3-0 victory in midweek and 30-year-old Duff is considering his options."I spoke to Nigel and said that as I have a young family and at the age I am now, I would rather not travel if I was not going to be involved, " Duff told BBC Radio Lancashire."In my last couple of games I sat in the stand, which I do not want to do as it is a lot of time away from home."I have not written off playing for them again but it his (Worthington's) decision and I know if I am not playing well for Burnley I will never be picked."Meanwhile, George McCartney is definitely out of Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Poland at Windsor Park next month. The Sunderland defender is suspended for the match after being booked in the 3-0 victory over San Marino in midweek.Worthington was considering questioning the decision but the Irish Football Association have confirmed that yellow cards cannot be rescinded.McCartney will now sit out the game along with Rangers duo Steven Davis and Kyle Lafferty, who are also banned.
