Phillips had already scored three goals in as many games against Laws' side - two for previous club West Brom last season - and one for the Blues at St Andrews in October before he headed home Scott Sinclair's brilliant 93rd-minute cross to deny Wednesday victory in a 1-1 draw.Lewis Buxton had scrambled home his first goal for Wednesday in the 56th minute, but Phillips pounced with the clock ticking down for his 12th goal of the season.Laws said: "The game can be so cruel at times. You can't ask for anything more from the players' point of view, they've given everything they can to win the game."In the last few seconds, 92nd minute I think it was, they scored and it has to be that Phillips again, I hate him!"It's always him. I could have strangled him when he came up the tunnel, but that shows the quality they have in the side, you can't switch off for a second because opportunities will come, no doubt about it."But the last person you want it to fall to, someone so calm and cool in the six-yard box, is Phillips."He's done it to us two or three times and we still haven't learned yet."Wednesday appeared set for only their second league win in eight matches, but Laws swallowed his disappointment to praise his players for a rousing second-half performance. He added: "It feels like a loss again, particularly with the way we played in the second half."It was one-way traffic and I'm sure they'll never have been so stretched in their lives. We've had them on the back foot on many, many occasions, Jermaine Johnson in particular was a major thorn in their side."From that point of view it was very pleasing, but soul-destroying in the end."But if we're feeling disappointed and dejected against a team looking to be in that top two when they've spent all that money, then that's a major plus, not a negative."Blues manager Alex McLeish was convinced his side were well worth their point and hailed his players' never-say-die attitude.McLeish said: "If anyone thinks we didn't deserve that then they need their head examining."I was disappointed to go behind because up to then we were the better side."They were dangerous of course with Johnson on very good form, (Marcus) Tudgay is a clever player and big Leon (Clarke) up front - they're a handful."But I felt we dominated proceedings, first half especially, but when you don't score goals, you're not going to win games."The draw leaves City with just two wins in their last eight Championship matches, but they remain three points behind second-placed Reading.McLeish was full of praise for striker Phillips, who pounced for his 12th goal of the season.McLeish added: "He was the man you wanted on the end of it because there were two or three at the back post there."David Murphy got forward, Scott produced a superb cross and Kevin's the one you want there."We were wondering about taking him off, but you've got to leave him until the end."He's the man with the nose for goal. Thank goodness we made the correct decision."
