Rooney raring to go against Blackburn with one eye on United's Inter clash

Sir Alex Ferguson expects Wayne Rooney to come through his Manchester Uniteddress rehearsal for Tuesday's Champions League showdown with Inter Milan.   After a 30-minute outing as a substitute in the midweek win over Fulham, Rooney has been promised a starting spot in Saturday's Premier League encounter with Blackburn as Manchester United look to go eight points clear of second-placed Liverpool.   Having scored with his first touch following a seven-match absence with a hamstring strain, Rooney has already signalled his well-being.   Same old story: Rooney wasted no time getting back to what he does best in Manchester United's 3-0 victory over Fulham in midweekHowever, Ferguson needs to check the 23-year-old's stamina too before the showdown with Jose Mourinho's Serie A leaders.   'Wayne Rooney will play against Blackburn,' said Ferguson. 'He has to start a game to see how far advanced he is.'Ferguson confirmed Rooney came through his Fulham run-out without a problem and although the England forward was in contention for last weekend's FA Cup tie at Derby, the United boss feels exactly the right approach was taken given the slight setback Rooney suffered a fortnight ago.   'We could have been tempted to use Wayne at Derby but we felt the extra few days' training would help him,' said Ferguson. 'He had a little setback which wasn't terrible but it was enough to keep him off for a couple of days. Then we had to him back into the real training to make sure he was 100 per cent fit.   'Thankfully he came out of Wednesday with no reaction.'  The great Alan Green debate: Is the Five Live commentator the most annoying in Britain?ALL THE WEEKEND'S PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM NEWSEXCLUSIVE: Benzema delivers shock snub to United as striker plots his exit from LyonVeterans United: Neville joins Giggs in signing new deal at Old TraffordTevez's future thrown into doubt as United fail to meet deal deadlineTHE LIST: Sportsmail's top ten of the greatest goal poachers to have played in English footballMANCHESTER UNITED FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET
