Bruce eyes Teesside glory

Steve Bruce will be looking to end his poor record on Teesside when Wigan take on lowly Middlesbrough. The Latics boss has been on the losing end of every visit to the Riverside as a manager but will be hoping for a change in fortune on Saturday.Middlesbrough are without a win in 13 games and sit second from bottom of the league table after a desperate run.Gareth Southgate's side haven't won a game since November, which will certainly count in favour of the Latics who remain in seventh place in the table despite a difficult run of fixtures.RecordStill six points adrift of sixth-placed Everton, Bruce insists he is taking nothing for granted as Wigan continue their quest for a Uefa Cup spot."It's a huge one and I have a bad record on Teesside," said the Latics boss."I don't think I've taken a point there as a manager and never played well."I hope this is our year. If we can go and beat Middlesbrough it will be terrific."AchievementBruce admits that if Wigan were to achieve European status that it would represent his biggest achievement in management."It would be a fantastic achievement for the club," said Bruce. "We have 13 games to go - who knows?"Without doubt it would be my (my biggest achievement) by a long way to take this club that far."
