Rodwell eyeing regular role

Jack Rodwell is targeting becoming an Everton regular after penning a long-term contract with the high-flying Toffees. The 17-year-old, who made his Premier League debut against Sunderland last season, has made nine league appearances this term with five coming as a starter.Rodwell scored his first Everton goal last weekend in their 3-1 FA Cup win over Aston Villa and followed it up in midweek by putting pen-to-paper on a five-year deal at Goodison Park. The teenager has expressed his relief at getting his long-term future resolved and is now looking forward to working hard at becoming a regular in David Moyes' first team.Pleased"I've been waiting for this for a long time, so I'm just pleased to get it signed now," he told the Liverpool Daily Post."I've been here since I was seven, so it's been 10 good years and I've enjoyed every minute of it."But it's a new beginning now for me. I'm 17 so I'm a young player and I've got to keep working hard. Hopefully it will all go well."Obviously I want to become a regular starter for Everton, but it will take time. It is all happening very fast at the moment probably because of the squad size."But I've always set high goals for myself so I will just keep working."
